Kara L. Laughlin is a hands-on writer and shows a young crafter how to make the cover of a timeline journal from her book “Marvelous Memories: Paper Keepsake Creations” at the 2015 Fall for the Book Festival. Back by popular demand, Laughlin will lead a jewelry-making workshop Oct. 14 at 2:30 p.m. in the Old Town Hall in Fairfax at the corner of Main Street and University Drive, where she will show tween fashionistas how to “Sparkle and Shine!”
